The reason this has to be left at this stage is the right hand switches are not here yet.
For purposes of laying out the switch plant an older #6.5 was used. It has the same dimensions as
the new style, but is not "DCC friendly". Notice that the inner rails are connected on the old style, but
insulated from each other and the frog on the new (and internally connected to the stock rails for power). |
Also the old style connects both point rails together, which can lead to shorts as flanges bridge
the gap. |
